Wuhan Botanical Garden was originally called Wuhan Institute of Botany. It was established in 1956 and officially opened in 1958. After several changes in affiliation and name, it was renamed Wuhan Botanical Garden in October 2003. The garden covers an area of about 1,990 mu and is a comprehensive scientific research institution integrating scientific research, species conservation, and science popularization. It is one of the three core scientific botanical gardens in China. After several expansions and renovations, it has gradually developed into its current scale and influence.
