Haw Phra Kaew, Vientiane

Hophakaew Museum is located not far from the center of Vientiane. In the past, the "Emerald Buddha" was enshrined here. Only the throne remains. The Emerald Buddha is currently enshrined at Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram or Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok. Hophakaew was originally the royal temple of the Lao royal family. It was built by King Setthathirath in 2108-2109 after the capital was moved from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. It has a blend of Thai and Lao architecture. But!!! As for Hophakaew, which we see today, it has been almost completely renovated.
