Italy Free Travel: Venice City Walk!

The last stop of my trip to Italy—Venice, the water capital🎭🛶, is a place I have always dreamed of. Piazza San Marco The center of politics, religion, and public life in Venice is a large open-air museum. The square is rectangular and surrounded by fine architecture on three sides. On the north side is the old parliament building, on the east side is the Governor’s Palace, and on the south side are St. Mark’s Library and St. Mark’s Bell Tower. Piazza San Marco is known as “the most beautiful living room in Europe”. When I first stepped into Piazza San Marco, the openness and magnificence hit me instantly😍. The square’s trapezoidal layout cleverly guides the line of sight, abruptly into the open space from the cramped streets, the transition of space as if it were an elaborate play that makes one feel a sudden cheerful shock in an instant. The architectural styles around the square are different, but they coexist harmoniously. The Byzantine style of St. Mark’s Cathedral, the Gothic architecture of the Governor’s Palace, and the Renaissance style of the old administrative house building, they seem to be notes of different eras that together play an architectural symphony. This fusion of styles gave me a deep sense of the inclusive and innovative spirit of Venetian architecture. St. Mark's Cathedral One of Venice’s iconic buildings. The interior of the church is ornately decorated with a large number of fine mosaic frescoes, stained glass windows and marble carvings. St. Mark's Bell Tower One of the tallest buildings in Venice are iconic buildings of the city. There is a golden lion statue🦁 at the top of the bell tower, symbolizing the patron saint of Venice. Riato Bridge One of the oldest bridges in Venice is the most famous on the Grand Canal. It is a stone arch bridge made of white marble, and there are many small shops and stalls selling various Venetian specialty goods such as masks, glassware, and jewelry. From the bridge overlooking the Grand Canal, you can see the boats plying to and fro in one of Venice’s most vibrant scenes. Bridge of Sighs An enclosed arch bridge connecting the Governor’s Palace to the prison got its name from the sighs of the free world outside as prisoners passed through it as they were escorted to the prison. The bridge is made of white limestone and is arched, with small windows through which one peer into the canal outside. The Bridge of Sighs is one of the most romantic attractions in Venice, and legend has it that lovers get eternal love by kissing under the Bridge of Sighs💋. If you’re visiting Italy, you can’t miss Venice, one of Italy’s most glamorous cities. There are over 400 bridges connecting the islands. Strolling along these bridges, you can enjoy the different landscapes and feel the tranquility and romance of the city.
