The Essence of Venice

The Grand canal is venice's lifeline and it takes a while to sink in that you're finally in Venice. The waterbus which run on the grand canal are like the public transport. Only the views from this public transport are spectacular. Since I had been to venice before and was familiar with the crowds and prices. I chose to stay slightly out of the centre. That meant largely relying on the grand canal to take me to places. Here's what i did and found incredibly effective. I got the vapporetto pass for 48 hours which provided unlimited rides on the waterbus. So I rode the canals morning, afternoon and night. And I saw some of the the most spectacular sights. It's so effective too. Since walking amidst the crowds can be such a bother. I love the smaller canals even more. You could take them snaller boast and pass by the quite and old alleyways. The canal is the true essence of Venice and like me, it will mostly be the most memorable part about venice. Here's another tip, please be extra careful around people. Lots of pickpockets around. And the pass I spoke about earlier is absolutely a great idea if you are based away from the centre and will be exploring venice extensively.
