Takayama Inari Shrine

#JapanTravelTactics This Inari Shrine is famous for its 1,000 vermilion torii gates, located in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture. It is said to have been built between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods. The deities enshrined are Ukanomitama-no-Mikoto, Satahiko-no-Mikoto, and Omiyame-no-Mikoto. It is said to bring good fortune as the gods of bountiful harvests, safety at sea, and prosperous business. From the high ground behind the torii gates, you can get a panoramic view of the whole shrine, and the sight of the endless rows of torii gates, each about 2 meters high, is a spectacular sight.
