Mikawa Peninsula: A journey tracing the history of "Yoshida Castle Ruins"

I went to Yoshida Castle in the middle of Toyohashi city. Toyokawa River flows to the north, and when you look at Yoshida Castle from Toyokawa Bridge, you can imagine that people in the past would have seen Yoshida Castle every time they crossed the river. Up close, it is a little smaller than other castles, but excavations are still ongoing to explore its history, so it is still a castle full of romance. The best part is the view when you climb the stone steps next to the castle and reach the remains of the armory! You can see the Toyokawa River spreading out into the distance, and the view is great, so you can feel like you've become a military commander and ruled the castle. [History] In 1564, Tokugawa Ieyasu of the Matsudaira era captured Yoshida Castle and appointed Sakai Tadatsugu as the castle lord. Excavations revealed that Sakai Tadatsugu rebuilt Yoshida Castle and dug a new moat. After that, Ikeda Terumasa (Terumasa) became the lord of Yoshida Castle and remodeled the large castle. Before Ikeda Terumasa built the World Heritage Site "Himeji Castle," he was actually the lord of Yoshida Castle. Among the remains from Terumasa's time is a stone wall under the iron tower, which is said to have been built with the latest technology at the time. The stone monument was located to the left of the entrance to the castle. The fact that famous people in history were the lords of Yoshida Castle shows that Yoshida Castle was a key player in wars. Yoshida Castle, which had such famous people as its lords, was also called the "Castle of Success." Location: Toyohashi City Imabashi-cho 3 Parking: Available Admission: Free Access: [Train] From JR Toyohashi Station, take the streetcar to "Shiyakusho-mae" and walk for about 5 minutes #AichiTrip #TravelWithMe
