[Tokyo/Kameido Tenjin Shrine] Kameido Tenjin Chrysanthemum Festival

Sugawara no Michizane composed the "Lingering Chrysanthemum Poem" when he was 16 years old. Kameido Tenjin Shrine used to hold "Lingering Chrysanthemum Banquets" where waka and renga poetry, which were performed at the Imperial Court, were composed. Nowadays, the "Chrysanthemum Festival" is held in the fall! About 500 pots of chrysanthemums are displayed in the shrine grounds. This is the time when the shrine grounds become even more colorful with many chrysanthemums, including large and small Senrinzaki, Kengai, Bonyo, and bonsai.
