Senanuchrangsan Temple, Phang Nga

Royal Monastery, R.S. 125, Wat Mai Kamphaeng, currently called Wat Senanuchrangsan, is located in Takua Pa District, Phang Nga Province. Originally, the villagers called it Wat Mai Kamphaeng, but later changed the name to Wat Senanuchrangsan. Phraya Senanuchit (Nuch Na Nakhon), the governor of Takua Pa and the builder in 1847. There is a story that when Phraya Senanuchit (Nuch Na Nakhon) built the city, the government office, and the residence, he thought of building a temple to honor and to perpetuate Buddhism permanently in Takua Pa. He saw that the area at the foot of Khao Chamangkiri, Tambon Talat Nuea, near the temple of Wat Khuan Pom was an empty area with a fairly large area. He therefore dug up the soil and leveled the eastern part of the hill to make it flatter, built a 2-meter-high brick and mortar wall with 4 doors: 2 doors on the west and east sides, and built a chapel in the middle in the style of Wat Mahannoparam, and a principal Buddha image cast from metal. The lap is about 2 cubits wide and the two pavilions are semi-permanently built. The floor is made of bricks, the pillars are made of hardwood, and the roof is made of zinc. At present, the pavilion on the south side has been converted into a pavilion for making merit. The north side is built as a semi-permanent two-story monk's residence. The first chapel was roofed with three layers of scale tiles. Later, the roof collapsed.
