Beautiful Mon Village | Thai-Myanmar Border

Be sure to take a trip to the Mon village of Huai Nam Sai. It is a peaceful town where Thai and Mon live together, not far from La Toscana Resort. In fact, less than 7 mins by car. Huay Nam Sai is a small village of 70 households in the midst of nature, surrounded by mountains, and stream creating a suitable atmosphere for relaxation. This is where Thai and Mon culture combines so beautifully. Take part of the tradition that has been passed from generation to generation. Suggest visiting on Friday or weekends, and arriving by 7:30 a.m. to join the morning merit making - offering food to the monks at around 8 a.m. No matter your religion, you can join this. There is food selling along the way, which is cheap (you can also order food to avoid single use plastic packaging). After buying a food set, you are welcome to sit and wait for the monks to arrive. The tradition here is totally different from elsewhere, but indeed fantastic. Everything is well prepared by the villagers. You will feel the warmth and harmony of the community, such a wonderful experience. So simple yet blooms the heart. What a wonderful way to start the morning. Along the walk through the village, there are several small shops set up selling local products, hand crafted gifts, local food and drinks, small coffee shops over looking the small stream (suggest bringing your own cup or utensils, just to avoid single use plastics here). Everything here is at reasonable price. You can also visit the waterfall and trek to viewpoint nearby. Be sure to add to your list if looking for a quick trip from Bangkok, it is about 200km west of Bangkok, nestled in the foothills of the Tanaosi mountain range that separates Thailand from Myanmar. The area remained a well-kept secret for tourists visiting Thailand as no guidebook ever mentions this area. Today, the area is a favourite with Thai tourists because of its nature reserves, waterfalls, reservoirs, orchid and rose gardens.
