Sion, Switzerland, has the most important prehistoric site in Europe

Sion is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Valais, and its main feature is the medieval townscape. The main attractions are the Valere Mountain, 610 meters above sea level, and the Valere Church from the 12th to 13th centuries, as well as the Tourbillon Hill, 658 meters above sea level, and the castle ruins. The southernmost of two mounds at the eastern end of the old town, Valaire Cathedral houses the world’s oldest playable organ, built in the 1430s. Sion is one of the most important prehistoric sites in Europe. The alluvial fans of the Sion River, the rocky slopes above the river, and to a lesser extent the Valere and Tourbillon Massifs, have been inhabited almost continuously since ancient times.
