We finally tried TAI ER at Suntec City, and let’s just say—if you love bold, unapologetic flavours, this is your playground. From the moment you walk in, the energy hits different—neon signs, buzzing staff, and that unmistakable aroma of pickled chilli and Sichuan spices wafting through the air. You know you’re not here for something mild.
The star of the show was, of course, the signature sauerkraut fish (酸菜鱼). It arrived bubbling, full of tender fish slices swimming in a tangy, spicy broth packed with pickled mustard greens, dried chillies, and just enough numbing Sichuan pepper to keep you hooked but sweating. Every mouthful was intense—but somehow you keep going back for more.
We added on a few sides: the fried tofu skin, crunchy lotus root, and glass noodles, all perfect for soaking up the broth. The grilled skewers were another pleasant surprise—juicy, smoky, and just lightly spiced.
It’s definitely not a quiet, slow-dining kind of place. The vibe is loud, fast-paced, and fun. Tables turn quickly, service is efficient, and the staff know their stuff—they’ll even give you a little tutorial if it’s your first time trying the dish.
This isn’t a place you come for subtlety. It’s punchy, tangy, fiery, and completely satisfying if you’re craving something different from your typical hotpot or steamboat.
Fair warning: if you can’t handle heat, you might want to go in with a side of milk tea. But if you love that addictive sour-spicy combo and don’t mind breaking a sweat—TAI ER will leave you craving a return visit before you even finish the first bowl.
