A century of fusion told through furniture

Peranakan furniture is a unique cultural product of Southeast Asia, mainly influenced by Chinese, Malay, and European colonial cultures. These pieces of furniture are usually a blend of Chinese and Western styles, with bright colors and strong decorative elements. The overall design of the furniture is often influenced by traditional Chinese Ming and Qing furniture, such as round tables and carved chairs, but also incorporates elements of European Baroque and Rococo styles, creating a strong visual impact and a sense of luxury. The patterns also show various fusions, often with dragons carved on one side and angels on the other, with Buddha worship on the left and God worship on the right, without interfering with each other.
