We wandered into Splendid China & Folk Culture Village as the heat began to rise, past miniature Great Walls and ancient palaces tucked between bonsai trees and shaded pavilions. It felt like a slow walk through history a tiny version of the country laid out in stone and water. But it was the folk village side that pulled us in deeper. Performers in traditional dress danced beneath red lanterns, and the air smelled faintly of roasted chestnuts and fabric dye. It wasn’t a museum it felt alive, like we’d stepped into someone’s memory. 🏯🧵🌿 By late afternoon, we found a quiet corner near a Yi village stage where flutes drifted through the trees. Families picnicked on stone steps, and a little girl handed us a paper fan she’d painted herself. Everything slowed down.
