The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong | An experience beyond expectations🦁 Recently, I had the privilege of staying at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong. The hotel is located on the upper floors of the International Finance Center (IFC) in the Lujiazui financial district, perched at the top of a 58-story tower, boasting an unbeatable location. 📍 Location and Transportation: The hotel is situated in the heart of Lujiazui, right next to the IFC mall, making it perfect for friends who love shopping. It’s about a 40-minute drive from Pudong Airport and around 1 hour from Hongqiao Airport. The hotel also offers convenient airport shuttle bus services. 🏘️ Room Type/Layout: I stayed in a Deluxe River View Room, approximately 50 square meters, very spacious with exquisite and refined decor. The bathroom features marble design and a copper bathtub, allowing you to enjoy the night view outside while soaking. The floor-to-ceiling windows face the Bund and the Huangpu River. In the morning, when you open the curtains, sunlight pours in, and the view is breathtaking. The hotel’s Bund river view rooms offer outstanding vistas. The room I stayed in was several floors higher than the Bund river view suites, providing an even more expansive view. During the day, looking towards Puxi, the high-rise buildings are arranged in an orderly fashion, and the depth and breadth of the scenery are impressive—offering a unique charm even compared to the iconic “Three Buildings” view from the Bund. 🧹 Soundproofing/Cleanliness: The room’s soundproofing is excellent, effectively blocking outside noise to ensure a private and quiet resting environment. The cleanliness is impeccable, overall tidy and neat, making the stay very reassuring. 🛌 Amenities/Facilities: The room is fully equipped with high-quality amenities to meet various guest needs. The hotel’s leisure facilities are abundant. The infinity pool on the 53rd floor is a major highlight—swimming while enjoying the Bund’s beautiful scenery. Although the pool is a bit small, the stunning view more than makes up for it. The adjacent jacuzzi is also very comfortable. The spa, located on the 55th floor, uses the ESPA brand. I tried a massage once; the service was professional, and the environment was tranquil—perfect for relaxing after traveling. The gym is open 24 hours with complete equipment, convenient for night owls to work out anytime. (Friendly reminder: swim caps are required for the pool and can be brought or purchased on-site for about $20. Although the price is a bit high, the experience is worth it.) 🍽️ Dining Experience: From Michelin-starred to rooftop bars, a feast for the taste buds The hotel offers a wide variety of dining options. I focused on trying several restaurants: - 🇮🇹 Scena Restaurant: Full of Italian charm, I recommend the truffle dumplings, which taste excellent. Pair it with a glass of red wine for a romantic atmosphere—perfect for dinner with friends or a partner. - 🇨🇳 Jin Xuan: A Michelin one-star Cantonese restaurant. Dim sum and roasted meats are a must-try, especially the shrimp dumplings and char siu, which melt in your mouth. Although the prices are on the higher side, it’s definitely worth it. The restaurant environment is elegant, with charming night views, and the food is exquisite and delicious. - 🍸 FLAIR Rooftop Bar: Located on the 58th floor, it’s one of Shanghai’s highest rooftop bars with unbeatable night views. The signature cocktails are highly recommended and make for great photo opportunities. It’s best to visit during the golden hour; the sunset views are especially dreamy, perfect for friends who love taking photos to share. Additionally, the hotel breakfast is of good quality with a wide selection. ⭐️ Service and Details: Five-star attentive service, overall very satisfying The service is generally excellent, especially the Club Lounge team, which offers unlimited champagne during afternoon tea. The only minor issue was a slightly long wait when calling the service hotline once, possibly due to staff shortages during peak hours, but it didn’t significantly affect the overall experience. 💰 Average Cost: Standard rooms start at about 2200-2500 RMB per night, with suites priced higher. 💗 Other Tips: - Photo recommendations: Night views from FLAIR Rooftop Bar, the view from the 53rd-floor pool, and the Bund scenery from the room’s floor-to-ceiling windows. - When booking, choose a Bund view room for a better stay experience.
