Shanghai is a city with a vibe of “modern Chinese high society but still a bit classic.” If Tokyo feels like the future world, Shanghai feels like “rich, stylish, and cool in a Chinese way.” The first time you go, it’s like… wow, tall buildings lined up densely as if competing to be the tallest. Especially at night, it’s super bright—the bridge lights and building lights reflecting on the Huangpu River are so beautiful you’ll want to take hundreds of photos. But the cool thing is, the city isn’t just modern; it also has an old side. Like old brick streets, old town areas where you can stroll and find cute tea shops, and elderly people slowly playing chess. The contrast is just perfect. The food is amazing—xiao long bao, stir-fried kale, fried buns, black broth noodles. Oh, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. And the people there are cool with class—fashion is on point but not over the top, stylish without trying too hard, you know? Another thing is the subway there runs super fast. The city is busy but orderly in its own way. And there’s also Disneyland! (Zootopia fans must go, missing it is a big miss.) In short, Shanghai is a city that has luxury, history, authentic Chinese culture, modernity, and amazing food all packed in. You’ll never get bored living there.
