How can you achieve an urban getaway in such a bustling central area when the hotel is located in Jing'an District? First, upon arriving at the hotel entrance, you pass through a deep and long arched tunnel, leaving the hustle and bustle outside. After one door and then another, you arrive at the concierge on the first floor. Take the elevator to the fourth floor to discover a suddenly open-air courtyard. The stainless steel "Tree Gathering" in the atrium emits a faint mist, instantly immersing you in a tranquil atmosphere. The front desk is in a sunken space, level with the water surface in the courtyard, and the staff will bring you a cup of hot tea. The elevator hall to the guest rooms passes through a long corridor. One side of the corridor is the "Tea Banquet @ 5TH" and "Book Pavilion," separated by wooden screens, like warm and intimate spaces. Inside, there are heaters and a large number of artworks. The "GOSSIPS" by Vietnamese artist Nguyen Khac Chinh is particularly impressive. The room was upgraded to an elegant suite, with an overall simple and natural feel. There are many warm wooden elements, and the textured paint on the walls is relaxing. Alila Shanghai really takes care of insomniacs, not only providing sleep sprays and earplugs by the bed, but also offering a free "gong bath." I went down to do it once after 8pm and cleared out many distracting thoughts. Breakfast is at "Ying Ting" on the 4th floor, in a semi-buffet style.
