Shanghai Museum | Don’t miss the exploration of ancient Egypt! Super shocking

| Don’t miss this exploration of ancient Egypt! Super shocking. "As long as the Nile flows and the sun shines..." The Shanghai Museum's Egypt Exhibition - Top of the Pyramids: Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition is the world's largest and Asia's highest-level exhibition of ancient Egyptian cultural relics abroad. The exhibition brings together 492 groups of 788 precious cultural relics from different periods of ancient Egyptian civilization, which is well worth a visit. 📅Exhibition time: July 19, 2024 - August 17, 2025 (closed on Mondays) ⏰ Admission ends at 15:00 for the Egyptian exhibition and 16:00 for the permanent exhibition 🚪Closing time: 17:00 📍Exhibition location: Exhibition hall on the first floor of Shanghai Museum (People's Square Museum) 🎫Ticket purchase method: WeChat official account "Shanghai Museum" → People's Square Museum → Visit reservation → Special exhibition ticket purchase 💡Visiting order: The Kingdom of the Pharaohs → The Secret of Saqqara → The Age of Tutankhamun 🏺 Exhibition Content 1. Kingdom of the Pharaohs: This is the area with the most exhibits among the three areas. It is recommended to reserve more time to appreciate and take photos. There are free guide brochures and souvenir tickets available at the entrance. If you are not sure, you can ask the staff at any time. 2. The Secret of Saqqara: I saw cat mummies, cute cat animations were shown on the walls of the exhibition hall, and there were many Egyptian artifacts related to cats. It is very suitable for friends who like cats. 3. The Age of Tutankhamun: The gradient wall is perfect for taking photos. Don’t forget to leave your footprints here. 🌟The Disappearing Pharaoh: The VR exhibition on the second floor requires a separate ticket. If you have enough time, you can consider experiencing it. 📸 Tips 1. Be sure to prepare your Mainland China ID card. You will need to swipe your Mainland China ID card to rent an interpreter and enter each exhibition hall. 2. We rented an electronic guide for RMB 30 on site. I personally feel that the experience is not very good and I don’t recommend it. There is a paid manual guided tour service in the museum. The staff are very attentive in their explanations, and you can also do some homework in advance. 3. You can only enter each exhibition hall once. If you want to leave during the visit, you need to ask the staff for a stamp, which is fluorescent. 4. Try to avoid weekends, as there will be long queues and a lot of people, which will affect the exhibition experience. 5. Eating and drinking are not allowed in the exhibition hall, but there are free water points in the museum. It is recommended to bring a water cup with you. 6. The visit takes a long time, so it is recommended to bring your own power bank, which can also be rented on site 7. The luggage storage point is next to the cultural and creative center. If you have a lot of luggage, you can store it first. 8. There are cafes and restaurants on the second floor, but the choices are limited and the prices are high. 🎁Cultural and creative: After visiting the exhibition, don’t forget to visit the cultural and creative store on the first floor! The refrigerator magnets, bookmarks, pendants, etc. here are all well-made, uniquely designed, and full of artistic and cultural charm. This exhibition is not only a visual feast, but also a soul-stirring journey, which gave me a deeper and more intuitive understanding of ancient Egyptian civilization. I hope the above sharing can help you and make your trip to the Ancient Egypt Exhibition smoother and more enjoyable!

#discoverchina One can never visit Shanghai without visiting the iconic Shanghai Museum. If one were to do so, it’s like a man missing the opportunity to get culturally educated and inspired and it is one of the best curated museums in Shanghai. As it was their local school holiday on the date of our visit, the entrance was extremely crowded with long queues of visitors. It could be the tight security screening at the entrance that hindered the queue from shortening quickly. We spent at least half an hour to queue in order to enter the museum. Inside the museum, there were different levels catering to different types of artifacts and history to be shared. During my visit the 1st floor of the museum has been occupied by a big Egyptian special exhibit (which charges a quite high entrance fee, and doesn’t seem to warrant a visit), the content of the 3rd floor of the museum has been moved out to the Shanghai Museum East Building. The available exhibits are Marco Polo special exhibit (on the 2nd floor), and the All things glittering exhibit, the Ming-Qing Furniture exhibit, and the Chinese Minority Nationality Art exhibit on the 4th floor. The entire exhibit can be visited in about a hour.
