Shanghai Planetarium

Shanghai Planetarium (Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Branch), opened on July 17, 2021, is a science popularization infrastructure invested and built by the Shanghai Municipal Government that integrates education, research, collection, display, and interactive functions. It is the largest planetarium in the world. . The Shanghai Planetarium is composed of the "three-body" main building consisting of a round hole skylight, an inverted dome, and a dome theater, as well as ancillary buildings such as Wangshu Observatory and Xihe Sun Tower. It covers an area of ​​58,000 square meters and a construction area of ​​38,000 square meters. . With the exhibition theme of "Connecting People and the Universe", the entire museum has three theme exhibition areas: "Home", "Universe" and "Journey", three special exhibition areas and educational activity areas: "China Asks the Sky", "Curious Planet" and "Sail to Mars". The museum contains about 70 meteorite samples and more than 120 pieces/sets of cultural relics. It is equipped with four professional-level astronomical observation and astronomical demonstration equipment, with a total of more than 300 exhibits. Visiting by ticket takes about two and a half hours.
