Dongdaemun Heungin City Historic Site｜Shimen reflects the pulse of the city

#7月好去地方2025 The landmark of Dongdaemun comes from the ancient gate Heunginjimun, which stands in front of the modern skyline. It is also known as the "Hungin City Historic Site". The first rays of dawn in the morning shine through the gaps in the city wall, reflecting the soft light and shadow of the thousand-year-old bricks and gray tiles; in the evening, the afterglow flows along the eaves, smudges the warm colors on the moat. It was one of the eight city gates in the Joseon Dynasty, witnessing the rise and fall of the dynasty and the changes of the city.
