A Musical Based on Korean Traditional Performing Art Samulnori in Myeongdong, Seoul

I watched the musical NANTA, which is based on the Korean traditional performing art Samulnori (a rural art that enjoys the harmony of four percussion instruments). I thought it might be too overwhelming to watch a musical without understanding Korean, but NANTA has almost no dialogue. There are a few explanations of the settings at the beginning, but these are displayed on the screen in English, Chinese, and Japanese. There are many scenes that also introduce Korean culture, and the actors perform with such craftsmanship that it feels more like a circus, making it impossible to look away. Moreover, the musical involves the audience, creating a lively atmosphere where 90 minutes pass by with lots of laughter and applause. The children in front of me had big smiles on their faces even after the curtain call.
