Gyeongbokgung Palace’s history and culture: Gyeongbokgung Palace was the official palace of the Joseon Dynasty built in 1395 by order of King Taejo Lee Seong-gye. Compared with the East Palace (Changdeokgung) and the West Palace (Gyeonghuigung), it is located further north, so it is also called the "North Palace". Gyeongbokgung Palace is the largest and most beautiful palace among the five palaces.
