It’s really magical! You can take the cable car to get close to the animals!

The zoo is located in the north of the city but is easily accessible via the blue line metro which is really convenient the station is right outside the zoo and only 5 minutes from Marques de Pombal station. You can buy tickets in advance using the machine at the entrance or from the staff there. Once you enter the zoo, the staff will hand you a map. See a variety of animals from elephants to snakes to birds. Absolutely amazing dolphin show, even parrots and some other really great shows. It was also great to see some less common species like white rhinos, orangutans or koalas. There are plenty of shady places to sit and relax, some of which are beautiful with walls covered in classic Portuguese tiles. The cable car in the zoo is a very unique experience - soaring high above the scenery and some animal enclosures. We had never seen anything like it before and would recommend other visitors to do this as it was something exciting and different! The animals are amazing and we were lucky to see so many up close and see many highlights on our visit. It was very special to see the giraffes, elephants and big cats so close, especially taking the cable car to see the animals. We were amazed the whole time! Perfect venue for us to spend the full 4 hours here. It's also worth mentioning that there are a few places to get some food and ice cream for a reasonable price, and there are plenty of free toilets scattered around the park. Tip: Make sure your phone is fully charged because you will definitely be taking lots of photos of the great time you had.
