Wat Wang Wiwekaram - The Underwater Temple

Wat Wang Wiwekaram (Old), also known as the Underwater Temple, is a unique tourist attraction located in Sangkhla Buri District, Kanchanaburi Province. This temple was built in 1953 by Luang Por Uttama in collaboration with Mon and Karen villagers. It is situated in an area called "Sam Prasob," where three rivers converge: the Songkalia River, the Beeklee River, and the Ranti River. 🌅 Highlights and Best Visiting Times • During the dry season (March–May): Visitors can walk into the ruins of the temple and admire the remaining Mon-style art inside the underwater temple. • During the rainy season (October–January): You can take a boat ride to view the underwater temple, with parts of the church emerging above the water. 🚤 Travel and Costs • Travel: From Kanchanaburi city, head to Sangkhla Buri District, passing through Khao Laem National Park. Cross the Songkalia Bridge and turn left into the wooden bridge alley. You can then rent a boat near the Mon Bridge to visit the underwater temple. • Boat rental cost: Approximately 300–600 THB for a round trip, which takes about 45 minutes.
