A Temple Then a Church

The Temple of Antoninus and Faustina was built in 141 A.D. and is dedicated to Emperor Antoninus and his wife Faustina. The eight Corinthian columns at the front of the temple of 17 metres in height. At some point in time the temple was converted to the Church of San Lorenzo in Miranda possibly as early as the seventh century. This is one of the most striking structures in the Roman Forum. #celebrateit #rome #ancient
