The sacred black monk, Nong Pho Temple

Anyone who travels to Ratchaburi Province and has not had the opportunity to visit Wat Nong Pho, I would like you to stop by. This temple has ancient Buddha images that are hundreds of years old. There is a sacred Luang Pho Dam Buddha image that has been a pair of Buddha images of this temple since ancient times. There is also a statue of Thao Wessuwan for you to pay homage to. When you pass through the temple, you will see a statue, which is a prominent feature of Nong Pho Subdistrict, in front of the four-direction Buddha image shrine. On our right is Wat Nong Pho School. We can park our car here and walk into the temple or park inside the temple. According to history, Wat Nong Pho was originally called "Wat Nong Khaem". Later, the name was changed to be consistent with the name of Nong Pho Subdistrict. This temple has both a small shrine, a pavilion, and various Buddha images, both new and old, enshrined in various shrines, mixed together. In the center of this temple, there is an important Buddha image called Luang Pho Dam, which is believed to be over 200 years old. It is a sacred Buddha image that the people of Nong Pho highly respect and regularly come to pay homage to. Luang Pho Dam is the Buddha image of Wat Nong Pho, according to the history that has been told. The Buddha image is 29 inches wide at the lap and has a robe with a pattern of jasmine flowers. It is believed to be Phra Ratana or an amulet from the early Rattanakosin period, which is sacred and holy, especially in terms of prohibiting the sky, earth, and air. In addition, those who come to make vows and make wishes will have their wishes granted. It is believed that the items of worship that Luang Pho Dam likes include firecrackers, garlands, and movies. Another interesting point is the place where the relics of the Lord Buddha are enshrined. They are inside the temple, which was first brought from Sri Lanka. There are 3 of them. When the 1-year period that the relics were enshrined here from March 31, 2010 to March 31, 2011 was completed, 2 relics were returned according to the agreement. One relic was still enshrined permanently to create a good relationship between Buddhists of both countries.
