Pingyao Ancient Town

When: April 2024 Where: Pingyao, Shanxi, China 平遥古城山西 Entrance: Free Founded in 8th century BC, Pingyao Ancient Town is a complete building complex of ancient walls, temples, dwellings and shops. It covers an area of 225 hectares. You can either have a day tour and walk on the streets enjoying local food and beverages having the general idea of the place or you can stay in the hotel for 2-3 days inside the ancient town to explore each building deeply. The entrance of the town is free but there are 22 sightseeing spots which require ticket. You can buy an entrance ticket for 123 RMB and use the same ticket everywhere for 3 days. This is convenient for those who plan to stay overnight or two nights in the town. But if you plan a day trip (which was the case for us) no need to buy the ticket. If you want to visit the specific spot, you can get a ticket at the entrance of the scenic spot.
