Pingtung Art Museum - A Must-Visit in April 2025

Pingtung Art Museum, located across from the Pacific Department Store in downtown Pingtung City, was originally the site of the Pingtung City Office and officially opened in January 2013. The museum is designed with two floors: the first floor serves as a special exhibition space, while the second floor is dedicated to permanent collections and includes a small area for curated submissions. Today, I made time to visit the museum to see the special exhibition "Follow the Hazy, Humid Day to Pingtung," part of Japanese contemporary artist Yoshitomo Nara's ten-year touring project in Taiwan. This exhibition, the third stop in Taiwan, will end on May 25. It features approximately 59 pieces of Nara's works, including ceramics, sketches, and photographs. Additionally, a merchandise area is set up at the Pingtung Martial Arts Hall behind the museum, offering various items such as posters, postcards, glass cups, and phone cases. Yoshitomo Nara plans to hold a ten-stop tour across Taiwan, so those interested in his works can visit the venue closest to them to enjoy the exhibition. (20250504)
