Chonlaprathan Rangsarit Royal Monastery

Wat Chonlaprathan Rangsarit was built in 1959 by Mom Luang Chuchai Kampu, the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department. He visited Wat Umong (Suan Phutthatham) in Chiang Mai Province and listened to the sermon of Phra Panyanantha Bhikkhu, who was residing at Wat Umong at that time. He was impressed by his new teaching method, which changed from sitting on a pulpit and holding palm leaves to standing and giving oral sermons to the public, along with examples of contemporary and timely reasons. This greatly attracted the public to turn to the Dharma. The Royal Irrigation Department built a new temple called “Wat Chonlaprathan Rangsarit” in Tambon Bang Talad, Amphoe Pak Kret, Nonthaburi Province. This was a replacement for the use of land by Wat Cheng Tha and Wat Na Bot, which were located at the mouth of Khlong Bang Talad (currently, there are still original historical sites of both temples, collectively called “Phuttha Sathan Cheng Tha-Na Bot”), to build a port for the Royal Irrigation Department. Phra Panyanantha Bhikkhu was invited. Became the abbot in 1960 Wat Chonlaprathan Rangsarit has a shady atmosphere throughout the temple. There are activities every Sunday morning starting at 9:00 a.m. such as chanting, Dhamma lectures, and offering food to monks at the curved stone courtyard. Panya Nanda Bhikkhu wrote a book called “Life and Death: What Do You Get When You Go to a Funeral?” The cremation ceremony at Wat Chonlaprathan Rangsarit is simple, unlike other places.
