"Old Friendship Road" reappears, 7 km long.

This historic Friendship Highway was built with a budget between the Thai government and the US federal government. It is the first highway in Thailand with an asphalt concrete surface, which began construction in 1955 and opened in 1965 to head to the military base in Udon Thani Province. To show the friendship between Thailand and the United States in jointly constructing the road, this road was named "Friendship Highway" on February 20, 1957, with a ceremony to hand the road over to Thailand on July 10, 1958. Before it was discontinued in 1972 due to the construction of the Lam Takhong Dam, and has been submerged since then.
