The Beauty of Hulunbuir: A Perfect Family Destination

The beauty of Hulunbuir's scenery can only be truly appreciated by visiting it yourself. Hulunbuir is not only breathtakingly beautiful but also an ideal destination for family trips! Every day, you can immerse yourself in stunning landscapes while letting your kids enjoy activities like feeding sheep, horseback riding, grass skiing, feeding deer, riding a small train, and even milking cows. We also visited the birch forest, where we saw the home of Bear Big and Bear Small! Strolling with kids amidst the scenery, relaxing in nature—it’s a perfect blend of fun for the little ones and scenic enjoyment for adults. Moreover, Hulunbuir’s summer weather is pleasantly cool, making it an excellent escape from the heat for kids from southern regions. I’m already planning to bring my parents next time—they’ll surely love it! Our 6-day trip was just right—not too long or exhausting. Our travel itinerary: ❶ Day 1: Guangzhou ➠ Hailar ❷ Day 2: Hailar ➠ Huihe Wetland ❸ Day 3: Horse Hitching Post (cliff grassland) ➠ Manzhouli (Matryoshka Dolls) ➠ Mammoth Park ❹ Day 4: Manzhouli ➠ Heishantou ➠ Feeding animals ➠ Riding a small train ❺ Day 5: Heishantou ➠ Grass skiing ➠ Horseback riding ➠ Birch Forest (Reindeer Park) ❻ Day 6: Morigele River ➠ Hailar ➠ Return 🐑 About the attractions: 🔹 Horse Hitching Post: A site associated with Genghis Khan’s warhorses, featuring stunning cliff grassland views. You can even collect agate stones along the way as souvenirs! 🔹 Manzhouli: Known for its Russian-style architecture, it boasts the famous Matryoshka Doll Hotel and Mammoth Park, which houses 87 sculptures and a mammoth museum—perfect for photography! 🔹 Heishantou: Stay in a Mongolian yurt on the vast grasslands and enjoy activities like grass skiing, feeding lambs, horseback riding, feeding deer, and riding a small train. 🔹 Birch Forest: A picturesque spot that’s perfect for photos, with a children’s play area and opportunities to feed deer in the forest. 🔹 Ergun Wetland: Famous for its S-shaped river bends, it’s a must-visit in Hulunbuir. During this season, the slopes are covered with wild poppy flower fields, and watching the sunset here is absolutely stunning! 📝 Travel tips: ▪️ All photos were taken between June 1st and 7th, when the grasslands were already green! ▪️ The attractions are quite far apart, so self-driving or hiring a local guide is recommended for a hassle-free experience. We had a local guide who helped us enjoy local delicacies, avoid traffic, and stay in great hotels. Every day was filled with photo opportunities and a true vacation vibe! ▪️ Bring some vitamins as the wind and dryness can be harsh on your skin. ▪️ Pack a windproof jacket for the chilly evenings and windy hilltops.
