Ningbo Ayuwang Temple

Ningbo Ayuwang Temple is the only ancient temple in China named after the Indian King Ashoka. It was built during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty, and has a history of more than 1,700 years. The buildings on the central axis of Ayuwang Temple are, from bottom to top, the Mountain Gate, the Second Mountain Gate, the Pond of Life, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Sarira Hall, the Dharma Hall, and the Sutra Library. 🌟Highlights: [One] Ayuwang Temple is the only ancient temple in China named after the Indian King Ashoka. They are made of brick and wood, and are imitations of pavilions. They are hexagonal and seven stories high, with eaves and flat seats on each story, and a corridor around the bottom story. [Three] The temple also has precious cultural relics, such as the Stele of Permanent Fields of the Great Tang Ayuwang Temple written by Fan of the Tang Dynasty, the Stele of Chenkui Pavilion written by Su Shi of the Song Dynasty, the Inscription of Miao Xi Spring written by Zhang Jiucheng of the Song Dynasty, and 7,247 volumes of the Dragon Sutra bestowed by the emperor. ✅Must-try: Ayuwang Temple offers free vegetarian lunch every day, usually from 11:00 to 13:00. It is said to be very delicious.
