I visited Nikko Toshogu Shrine during the New Year, and it was quite lively. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, so I recommend using that option. The shrine grounds are quite spacious, with many stairs, so comfortable walking shoes are a must. Additionally, there are areas where you need to walk barefoot, so it's a good idea to bring thick socks during winter. The shrine is adorned with luxurious decorations, making it visually stunning. There were also many inbound tourists from abroad. From the station, buses are available to reach Nikko Toshogu Shrine, so taking the bus is recommended.
