A Magical Encounter with Deer at Kasuga Taisha

#japantrip #nara Visiting Kasuga Taisha in Nara to feed the deer was an unforgettable experience. Built in 768 to protect Heijō-kyō and ensure national prosperity, Kasuga Taisha is surrounded by a sacred forest where logging has been forbidden for over a thousand years. As you walk along the path, you’re greeted by towering trees that form a dense canopy, reminiscent of an ancient, untouched forest. Flanking the stone-paved trails are weathered stone monuments, their surfaces etched with the marks of time, telling silent stories of history. From time to time, deer appear from between the stone markers, curiously peeking out or gracefully roaming in small herds. When the sunlight pierces through the dense foliage and gently illuminates the deer and stone monuments, the interplay of light and shadow creates an enchanting scene that makes you instantly fall in love with this place.
