It is said that this Academy was established in the 18th century by merchants from Xinhui County, Guangdong Province, to support commercial activities in Nanning and to promote gatherings of fellow countrymen. Since then, it has been preserved and rebuilt to resemble an old street. There are many well-decorated old streets in Nanning, and this is one of them.
