Nanning · Nanhu Park

In the morning, I took a high-speed train from Guangzhou to Nanning and stayed at Chaoyang Square, which is the site of the ancient city of Yongzhou and has the Sanjie Liangxiang Historical and Cultural Block. After settling in at the hotel, it was just past noon, and I had the whole afternoon to myself. I took the subway to Nanhu Station, and Nanhu Park became the first stop of my trip to Nanning. Nanhu Station is located on the north side of the middle of Nanhu Park and the east bank of the lake. Minzu Avenue passes over Nanhu Lake, and a bridge called Nanhu Bridge is built here. Nanhu Lake is large and long, and the lake is wide. At first, I thought it was a river. The main body of Nanhu Park is Nanhu Lake, which, together with the surrounding green space, forms Nanhu Park. When I arrived at the bridgehead of Nanhu Bridge, I saw a waterside walkway along the lake. I started my walk along the lake to the south. The weather was clear that day, and the blue sky and white clouds were reflected on the calm lake, turning the lake water blue. The lake was planted with water lilies and aquatic plants, creating a vibrant scene. When I arrived at the Water Curtain Movie Square, I saw a statue in the green space. The statue was dressed in the official uniform and hat of the Tang Dynasty, holding an iron shovel in both hands, and looking into the distance, as if observing something. The base of the statue was marked as "Lu Ren", who was the Sima of Yongzhou during the Jingyun period of the Tang Dynasty. During his tenure, he built water conservancy and civil defense for Yongcheng and made many achievements. Yongzhou is the ancient name of Nanning, and the river that flows through it is called Yongjiang, which is the alias of Yujiang, a tributary of the Xijiang River, when it flows through Nanning. Nanhu Lake was originally Yongxi, which was connected to Yongjiang. Whenever floods occurred, the river water would back up and flood a large number of farmland and houses. During his tenure, Lu Ren recruited laborers, diverted water, built embankments, and stored water to form a lake, which is now Nanhu Lake. People built a statue of Lu Ren on the shore of the lake to commemorate his contribution to the people of Nanning. Further on, I came to the Four Seasons Garden, where the bougainvillea was in full bloom, and the beautiful kapok trees were also competing for beauty. After passing the Four Seasons Garden, I saw a lake embankment in front of me, with palm trees neatly arranged on it, and a nine-eye arch bridge leading directly to the opposite bank. I left Nanhu Park, crossed Shuangyong Road, and came to Qingshan Road. I walked all the way to the most famous Qingxiu Mountain in Nanning.
