Tokugawaen Garden, Nagoya.

Tokugawaen Garden, Nagoya, dates back to the Edo period. It is a daimyo garden with a pond and a corridor built in 1695 by Tokugawa Mitsutomo, the second lord of the Owari Domain, a family of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. In 1931, the 19th head of the family, Tokugawa Yoshichika, donated the garden to the Nagoya City Government, and it was renamed "Tokugawaen Garden." The Japanese garden is built to mimic the flow of a clear stream from a waterfall into a valley and finally into the sea. The gurgling stream flows into the pond, like a miniature of the Japanese natural landscape. In early winter, the flowers have withered, but the remaining lotus in the pond is as beautiful as a painting. The withered lotus leaves and seedpods form an unforgettable picture. The Tokugawa Art Museum next to the garden is also a museum that collects and displays more than 10,000 relics of the Owari Tokugawa family and the relics of Tokugawa Ieyasu, including the world-famous national treasure "The Tale of Genji" picture scroll. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the original because it wasn't on display, which was a small regret of my trip to Nagoya.
