Travel Notes of Mount Putuo

Mount Putuo is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, a renowned Guanyin pilgrimage site, and one of the first national key scenic spots announced by the State Council. It is known as the 'Buddhist Kingdom in the Sea and Sky' and the 'Sacred Land of the South Sea.' The entire mountain has over forty open temples, the largest being Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, Huiji Temple, and Baotuo Lecture Temple. The most prominent landmark is the 33-meter-tall South Sea Guanyin Buddha. Surrounded by the sea on all sides, Mount Putuo is praised as the 'most tranquil place in the human world.'
