Milan | A city that often brings me little surprises

|A city that always brings me little surprises. After visiting Duomo with a friend who was visiting Milan for the first time, we still had some time, so we went to Galleried’ltalia, which was a five-minute walk away. We didn’t make any plans in advance, and we didn’t even know what was on display, but we decided to go on the spur of the moment. The current temporary exhibition (to 01 Apr.) is The portrait exhibition of Giovanni Battista Moroni is interspersed with some religious paintings by Moretto da Brescia, and you can see many works on the theme of the mysticmarriage of Saint Catherine. Although Moroni is famous for his portraits, the most special work in the exhibition is probably his "The Last Supper" (P2). He repainted this subject in a very bold way, and added a "waiter" who cannot be ignored in the picture, standing behind Jesus with a wine jug in his hand. This special "supplement" can also be seen in his other works (P3), as if the story in the Bible was brought into the real world and had witnesses. There are also a few paintings in the permanent collection (?) that I really like, such as P10-13, plus the gallery itself has a very nice environment, I personally think it is well worth a visit. An interesting thing is that I saw a picture of another version of "The Last Supper" exhibited here five years ago in Google Review. I clicked on the picture and took a closer look. It turned out to be the painting by Giulio Cesare Procaccini that I saw in the church in Genoa last year. It was just framed and I didn’t realize it for a while.
