#churches The Cathedral of Messina was built in the 12th century and is located in Domo Square in Messina. On Piazza del Duomo, near the cruise terminal. It is a Norman-style cathedral, built in 1150, and was not spared by the subsequent earthquake and the shelling of World War II. The rebuilt church is faithful to the original structure, retains the original architectural style, and the original Norman style is still present. There are three Catalan Gothic gates on the front of the church.
