Traveling across France by train was an adventure in itself. The high-speed TGV took me from Paris to Marseille in just a few hours, with landscapes changing from city skylines to rolling vineyards and the sparkling Mediterranean. For a budget-friendly option, I tried OUIGO—same speed, just fewer luxuries. In contrast, the TER regional trains offered a slower, scenic ride, perfect for shorter trips like Avignon to Marseille. Paris was a world of its own. The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and the vibrant streets of Montmartre were just as enchanting as expected. Avignon, with its majestic Palais des Papes and half-vanished bridge, felt like a step back in time. Marseille’s Old Port and coastal views were stunning, while Mulhouse surprised me with its charming squares and impressive railway museum. Booking TGV tickets in advance saves money, and RER trains are the best way to navigate Paris. France’s rail system is efficient, but always check strikes—this is France, after all!
