The central point of the Spanish road network

Puerta de Sol (Spanish Puerta de Sol), a square in the center of Madrid, the capital of Spain, is also the central point of the Spanish road network, with 10 streets radiating outwards around the square. The Puerta del Sol was originally a gate in the walls of Madrid, which was built in the 15th century, when outside the walls were suburbs, the Puerta del Sol faces east and is decorated with the rising sun, hence the name. The plaza houses a statue of Carlos III on horseback, and many public works were started by him.
