Wat That Noi

#passionpassport The Wat Mahathat is one of the more ornate, attractive temples of Luang Prabang. The temple also known as Wat Phra Mahathat or Wat That Noi is located near the Mekong river South West of Hmong market, just left infront of the Fountain. It was built in 1548 during the reign of Setthathirath, King of the Lan Xang Kingdom. This temple surrounded with The Sim with a large Sweeping roof, and consists with 15 small pagoda with golden color, also inside and the wall, collums of the sim are decorated with great and beautiful murals. The ground surrounded wtih by the big and small Lanna style stupas Usually, During Laos new year celebrations monks of several temples walk in procession to the Wat Mahathat where a dance in performed for Pu Yer and Ya Ye, the guardian spirits of the city.
