Wat Pho Sri Maha Pho

After the end of the Buddhist Lent, it is the time for the Kathin festival, which is special because it is held within a specific period of only one month, from the waning moon of the 1st day of the 11th lunar month to the full moon of the 15th day of the 12th lunar month. Kathin refers to the robes that the Buddha allowed monks who have completed their three-month Lent to receive and wear. The Kathin ceremony, or Kathin offering, is a monastic activity that monks should perform together in unity within the specified period. This period is called Kathin Kala, the time for the Kathin ceremony or the Kathin festival. The main purpose is to foster unity among the monks and to support the virtuous monks who have worn-out robes. Therefore, Kathin is specifically related to the monastic activities of the monks. This year, we had the opportunity to join the merit-making event at Wat Pho Sri Maha Pho (Wat Khao Hong), located at 51 Ban Nong Tham, Khok Charoen District, Lopburi Province. It is a temple that is not well-known, mostly visited by the local villagers for merit-making.
