Love the lanterns here in Chinatown, London

London Chinatown is one of my favourite ones in Europe. However, compared to those in North America, Chinatown in London is not the original settlement of the Chinese immigrants, but mainly consists of restaurants serving Chinese cuisines and shops opened by Chinese, such as bakeries, groceries, etc. The original Chinese settlement in London is Limehouse. This current Chinatown, off Shaftesbury Avenue, only got the status in the 1980s when Chinese gates, street furniture and a pavilion were added. During the pandemic, there were strict regulations in place and indoor-dining was not allowed. Therefore many of the restaurants here started introducing outdoor-dining, a feature not seen before 2020. Since then, even after all restrictions were abolished, the outdoor-dining stays on. #celebratewithtrip #london
