|Liaoyang White Pagoda • Check in at Liaoyang White Pagoda. Liaoyang White Pagoda is the tallest brick pagoda in Northeast China. It is located in Baita Park in Baita District, Liaoyang. Liaoyang White Pagoda is a solid, curtain-style, thirteen-story, octagonal, brick pagoda with dense eaves. It is composed of a base, body, eaves, and top. It is 70.4 meters tall. The eaves are gradually retracted, with wind chimes hanging from the corners and copper mirrors between the eaves. The top of the pagoda is a lotus flower supporting a cover, with a spire decorated with flames, wheels, and jewels. Liaoyang White Pagoda is the tallest brick pagoda in Northeast China. However, it is said that during a cultural relic survey in 1980, a stele was found with an inscription stating that Wanyan Yong built the pagoda for his mother, Li, in the sixth year of the Zhenglong era (1156). The inscription describes a geographical location that has nothing to do with Liaoyang White Pagoda, so the theory that the pagoda was built during the Jin dynasty was rejected. The architectural style and details of Liaoyang White Pagoda are similar to those of Jinzhou Ancient Pagoda and Beizhen Chongxing Twin Pagodas. Jinzhou Ancient Pagoda was built in the third year of the Qingning era (1057) during the reign of Emperor Daozong of Liao, and Beizhen Twin Pagodas were built around the Tianxiang era during the reign of Emperor Daozong of Liao.
