Wat San Pa Yang Luang, Lamphun

This religious site is another ancient temple in Lamphun. Its original name was “Wat Khom Lamphong”. It was built in 1074. It was a Brahmin temple before being converted to a Buddhist temple after a Burmese monk came to spread Buddhism. The locals were so devoted that it became the first Buddhist temple in the Lanna region. The highlight of this place is the stucco carvings that have been translated into modern Lanna style, including the Phra Wihan Phra Khiew Khong, which enshrines Phra Phuttha Annyaratna Mahanathi Si Hariphunchai or Phra Khiew Khong, a Buddha statue carved from Mekong River rock. It is open for people to pay homage and ask for blessings every day. The temple here is very beautiful. You will be amazed when you walk in. If you like going to temples, I recommend it.
