#cherryblossom25 The cherry blossom season in Kyoto is just around the corner, and as a Kansai resident who has visited Kyoto seven times, I know quite a few great spots for cherry blossom viewing. I’m sharing them here, and you’re welcome to check out the same photo spots! Backwaki: This is my top cherry blossom spot in Kyoto! The cherry trees line the road for miles, and when they’re in full bloom, the petals fall like rain. There’s also a viewing platform where you can climb to get a bird’s eye view of the entire path. Take the Keihan train to Ishiyama-dera Shrine, and from there it’s a short walk. You’ll need an entrance ticket. It gets crowded, but the farther in you go, the fewer people there are. Don’t forget to find the P4 tree, which has the most beautiful blossoms. Maruyama Park (円山公園): This famous cherry blossom spot is next to Yasaka Shrine, and after visiting, you can continue through the shrine to reach the cherry blossoms by the Kamo River. Keage Incline (蹴上): A popular photo spot for cherry blossoms along the railway. It gets pretty crowded, so it might be hard to capture the iconic shots you’ve seen online, but the trees on both sides of the railway are still really beautiful. Keep walking towards the Biwako Canal Memorial Hall for large areas of cherry blossoms to photograph. Nanzenji Temple: A famous ancient temple in Kyoto, located near the Keage Incline. You can visit both the temple and the cherry blossoms nearby for a unique experience. Nijo Castle: A great spot for viewing night cherry blossoms. At night, the lights illuminate the massive cherry trees, which looks amazing in person, though the photos might not capture it as well. Entrance tickets are required. #travel
