The oldest famous temple of the popular Soto sect

#aprilblooms Kosho-ji Temple in Uji City is the first Zen temple in Japan opened by Dogen, the founder of the Soto sect. It was founded in Fukakusa, Fushimi Ward, in 1236, and although it was once abolished due to the war, it was revived in its current location in the early Edo period in the 2nd year of Shoho (1645). The "Kotosaka", a 200-metre-long path leading to the Ryugu-zukuri mountain gate, is famous. It is said that the name was given because the murmur of the stream flowing next to the gentle slope sounded like the sound of the koto. You can enjoy the expressions that change depending on the season, such as cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves, and is also designated as a scenic spot in Kyoto Prefecture.
