Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto Kinkaku-ji, also known as Rokuon-ji, is a famous Zen temple with a history of hundreds of years. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1994 and is a must-visit place in Kyoto. The Japanese anime "Ikkyu" in my childhood was a monk in Kinkaku-ji. "Kinkaku-ji" is famous for its gold foil on the outside of the building. The biggest highlight of the entire temple is the golden main building. The Kinkaku-ji under the sunset is like a golden pearl erected in the middle of the landscape. The ticket for Kinkaku-ji is very interesting, it is a symbol. Walk into Kinkaku, watch the landscape and ancient temples, listen to the monks chanting, taste the Zen tea, and experience the beauty of tranquility. When it was first built in 1397, it was a villa for the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. The belly of Kinkaku-ji covers an area of about 130,000 square meters. The second and third floors of the pavilion are covered with gold foil, hence the name Kinkaku-ji. After the death of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, in accordance with his will, this courtyard was transformed into a Zen temple. The eye-catching Kinkaku was built to enshrine the Buddha.
