It was built to worship the god of water and rain. The shrine consists of 3 main parts: Hongu (本宮) is the main hall of the shrine today. It is located closest to the entrance area and is the most popular area for tourists. Nakamiya (中宮) is the inner part of the mountain. You have to walk in for about 300 meters.
